A weekend-trip to Swindon in England where Christina is going to work as a teacher
When you go to England, you can either go by plane or by ferry or you can cross the channel by the tunnel. As I don't like flying and "driving thousands of metres through the water", the three of us took the car on Saturday morning at about 6 o'clock, drove many hundreds of kilometres and arrived in Calais at 10 o'clock. There we had to wait one hour until we could get on the ferry. The journey to Dover took about one hour and a half. Already from far away, we could see the white cliffs at the coast. This sight is always quite amazing - every time we go to "good old England"! We needed three further hours to go to Swindon where Christina showed us her nice appartement where she's living now with a nice young teacher called Harriet and three young men who work as teachers or engineers in big firms. On the way to Christina's appartement, we had to cross the famous "magic roundabout". It's such a famous construction because there are seven small roundabouts that form a very big one. After an interesting walk through the city of Swindon during which we discovered the great footbal stadium we spent the evening in a very nice pub and the night in a "Holiday Inn" hotel. Christina was fond of our choice because she had worked in the same hotel when she had been living in Birmingham.
In the morning we had a marvellous English breakfast with bacon, beans, eggs, roles, fruit etc., said GOODBYE to Christina and drove home. ... You can easily imagine how I / we felt!!!
